Beautiful Spa
I have been to the Western Cape Hotel Spa a number of times, and each time has been a lovely experience.
The spa is located in a beautiful area and it is a perfect retreat for a spa weekend away. The facilities are really great - I especially like the indoor pool which flows through to the outdoor pool area, allowing you to enjoy the best of both worlds.
What is also really nice is that if you are staying at the hotel you can go to the spa in your robe. I would recommend the health lunch at the spa as well if you do not feel like moving and would like to continue using the spa facilities after your lunch.
My treatments have always been good at this spa and I would recommend the rassul treatment if you have never experienced this kind of treatment before.
A visit to the Rain Forest
I had the pleasure of enjoying the "Rainforest Experience" at the Altira Spa at the Arabella Western Cape Hotel near Hermanus. The experience starts with a full-body salt scrub, followed by a steam-room session, and 2 sauna sessions, each followed by a cold shower to awaken the senses! A series of relaxing foot soaks, again alternating hot and cold follows, culminating in the actual Rainforest experience where one lies on huge marble slabs while a simulated forest deluge decends upon you! The experience ends with relaxation, cocooned in warm towels and in a candle-lit room.
Absolutely wonderful!
A very relaxing day
I spent the day at the Arabella Spa. Very tranquil and relaxing surroundings with an amazing view. Friendy and professional staff.
Lovely Treatment
I had not been back to the Western Cape Hotel and Spa for a few years and thought I should go back after such a wonderful past experience there.
The spa is really beautiful and has defnitely improved since I was last there. The facilities are lovely! I especially enjoyed the new relaxation room with the central flame feature. So relaxing I almost fell asleep there.
I also was lucky enought to try out the rainforest experience. I must admit, at first I felt a bit uncomfortable being scrubbed down on a marbel slab, but after that things just got better.
The journey took 2 hours and included a steam room, sauna, cold mist area, foot reflexology area, and much more... You end your rainforest experience in a room filled with candles and beds to sleep in, which is really different.
The rainforest experience itself was worth while, as it is something very unique. Although I really enjoyed the treatment I am not to sure whether I would repeat it, as it is very expensive and something that I do not think I would enjoy as much a second time around.
I think I would rather come back and try one of the other many treatments that the spa provides. It is really a unique and beautiful spa. I don't think many spas in Cape Town can match its location and facilities.
Ladies Spa Day
My sister and I have been to Arabella spa (Hermanus) before and this time I was not impressed specially because it was my sister's 'DAY AT THE SPA' with her girlfriends as she is about to be married next month.
We were 5 ladies who came for different treatments. The following we were not happy about.
1) I had the St.Barth Sensation and was not impressed. Did not feel refreshed and the time spent on me was less than the time stipulated.
I had a pedicure as well of which the therapist asked me to choose a nail varnish and that it would cost 70.00 extra. Why was I not told when I booked the treatments. I have also never heard of pedicures that exclude the nail varnish. The treatment was good but for the price I was paying I did expect the nail varnish as well.
2)My sister and her friend had the Rainforest Experience and when she booked she was asked for preference of a male or female therapist of which she chose a female and on the day they told her that she has a male. I find this totally unprofessional, specially that when my sister was told that she will have a male, they explained making it seem that it's ok ! Why give customers a choice?
3)Another friend had some type of body massage which she says was good but only when the therapist lastly worked on her back, told her that she needs to go for more
work on her back and then said that she should've asked in the beginning. Why was this not suggested if there was no particular area she wished to have concerntrated on?
Generally , I really expected better treatment and service, considering that the products are extremely expensive. I also just wanted it to be a perfect hassle free day cause it was my sister's day.
